PALADINS MISSION FIRST (Leia)

Paladins Mission First (Leia) is a Natural Ability Prize I dog and she is the first dog that I trained and tested for the new Gun Dog Test. Where she earned a 154 Prize II because she didn’t get a good mark on the duck and I had to handle her a bit. She is product of our “M” litter. She is out of PALADINS BO WHOOP (NA 112 PZ I) by JACKSON CREEKS COOL HAND (NA 104 I UT 185 II). Leia lives with my friends, Rick and Linda Peterson. She lives in the house full-time and once the crops are out, she gets to hunt with Rick. In the meantime, she is only 10 miles away, so I hunt the heck out of her.

She runs in that medium range we like—forward, efficient, and honest—with the stamina to grind and the cold-water grit that shows up when it counts. This is biddable stock; they tend to take training without much pressure and carry a reliable off-switch in the house—steady brains with the gas to hunt all day.

Coat expectations: practical short-to-medium dense coats with furnishings are the norm in these lines (Cedarwoods backbone + Jackson Creek/Oxbow pieces). You get weather protection without a bunch of maintenance—built for a working bird dog, not a grooming table.

More importantly, Leia the kind of dog that is a real deal bird dog.  When she is in the field, all eyes are on her because she will find wild birds early and often.

This pedigree stacks Cedarwoods First Offense and Blackhawks Augustas McCray across both sides, and it puts real water on the ground through Oxbow’s Big Gun (UT 204 I), Cedarwoods EZ Top (UT 201 I), Killbuck’s Legendary Luna (UT 200 I), Hidden Acres Atlas (UT 204 I), and VC Cedarwoods Orphan Annie (UT 201 I). Sire: Jackson Creeks Cool Hand (NA 104 I; UT 185 II). Dam: Paladins Bo Whoop (NA 112 I). Leia: NA 104 I; GDT 154 II.

At a glance:  McCray stacked · water, drive, and cooperation—real-deal bird dogs that find wild birds early and often.
